PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS
Historic Rhode Island Regiment outdoor flags are USA made of nylon flag material and are finished with a canvas heading and two brass grommets on the hoist side, 2 rows of stitching top and bottom sides and 4 rows of stitching on the fly side. They are attached to the flagpole by means of a halyard (rope) and flag snaps, or to smaller poles with flag fasteners. Standard stock size for Rhode Island Regiment outdoor flags is 3x5 ft. Larger sizes 4x6 ft, 5x8 ft. and 6x10 ft. are made to order.

Rhode Island Regiment desktop flags are made in the United States. Size is 4 x 6 inch, lightweight nylon material, hemmed all four sides, mounted on 10” black staffs with a golden spear point. Table top bases are available in black plastic to display from 1- 7 flags. Wood bases are available with either 10 holes or 12 holes to display additional flags.

FLAG DESCRIPTION / HISTORY
1777-1783. The Rhode Island regiment flag is a white flag with a blue canton on the upper hoist containing 13 gold stars. On the field in blue, is a blue anchor and rope emblem with a blue banner above, the word "HOPE" spelled on the banner.

The Rhode Island Regiment (1st and 2nd) was part of the Continental Army during the American Revolution. It was noted to enlist African American slaves who were promised freedom after their service; plus free blacks, Indians and whites, and sometimes referred to as the "Black Regiment". The owners of the slaves were compensated by the Rhode Island colony. The unit was disbanded after 1783. (ref; rhodeislandsar.org Sons of the American Revolution)
